I have included some links to the left of this page that I have found to be helpful as a parent in making reading fun and getting valuable parenting advice about reading.
Family Education - This site has some great resources and information about being a parent in general. But, specifically, If you search at the top of the page by typing in "reading," it will lead you to great games, articles and ideas!
Reading Rockets - This site has a huge amount of great information! If you click the "For Parents" tab at the top of the page, you will find a vast amount of helpful ideas and games to keep your child reading! Check it out!
Professor Garfield - This site is just plain fun! There are many games and activities that kids will enjoy on all subjects. I would recommend checking out the "Reading Ring" to help older students think critically about sequencing a story. It is a game of organizing Garfield cartoons that have been mixed up. The boxing theme is interesting to boys especially. I also would recommend the "Transport to Reading" section. These games are primarily for students K-3, but could be helpful to all students. The games focus on phonics skills and other helpful word and stories strategies.
